Fitting the Pieces Together

My view on the different learning theories has changed from the perspective that I have a better understanding, and appreciation of the various theories that instructional designers can use. Each theory if applied correctly to the appropriate situation can mean the difference on several fronts. First; it will produce a more knowledgeable student. Second, it will save time money and resources from being wasted and/or applied in incorrectly. Third, and more importantly it will produce a highly effective instructional designer and teacher.

Over the last several weeks I think one of the most important things I have learned is that we all at some point have experienced some of the same problems when it comes to developing instructional methods. My own personal experiences have taught me that not everyone learns the same way or at the same pace. Not all teachers teach the same way or apply learning principles in the same way.

With the rapid growth of technology it is almost impossible not to have to use some form of social media in the performance of one’s job, education or personal use; such as looking up the weather or when a movie is due to start at the local theatre. I am sure that at some point schools will do away with books all together. The library can be used for other classroom functions or turned into virtual library where computers will replace books. Its is all most mandatory that any industry in today’s global environment must use some form modern technology to be competitive. Modern technology has changed how a child completes a homework assignment. Twenty years ago to complete a basic book report, a person would have to visit their local library to check out books on the subject. Today that information is just a click away and can be completed anywhere a computer has some form of internet connection.
